Amber Wilson

Journalist | Writer

By day, I'm a news reporter, covering courts and crime in Melbourne's CBD. I have covered a plethora of high-profile murder, clergy abuse and celebrity defamation cases in recent years, and my work has appeared in most major Australian newspapers and online news sources including The Australian, The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Herald Sun, The Guardian, ABC and SBS. But I'm not just a writer - I've also got a solid history in subediting, editing, corporate and arts communications.

By night, I'm an aspiring fiction writer. I've written a fantasy-surrealist novel and am currently working on a series of shorts based in the neo-Tasmanian Gothic style with a focus on feminism and the femme fatale archetype.

Victoria and Tasmania are my dual homes, where my spare time is spent treasure hunting for vintage finds, reading old books, dancing Latin, and tapping away on a 1980s manual typewriter. I'm also a feline fanatic and a history nerd.
